Absorbable Nasal Implants

Our Solutions

LATERA

LATERA® is an absorbable nasal implant used to support the upper and lower cartilage inside the lateral (side) wall of your nose. Supporting the cartilage may reduce nasal airway obstruction symptoms and help you breathe better. The implant is placed inside the nasal wall by an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat [ENT] specialist) or facial plastic surgeon. Talk to your doctor to find out if LATERA could be right for you.

What patients have experienced

With LATERA

LATERA absorbable nasal implants may help you breathe better with little risk of changes to appearance. LATERA showed significant quality-of-life improvement for nasal obstruction patients with lateral wall or nasal valve collapse, as measured by the NOSE survey. Patients experienced a reduction in nasal obstruction symptoms of 57.7% at 2 years, as measured by the NOSE survey. Patients achieved these results without negative cosmetic effects.

A clinical study shows that LATERA patients demonstrate:

  • Reduced nasal congestion or stuffiness
  • Less trouble breathing through the nose
  • Improved ability to get enough air through the nose during exercise or exertion
  • Reduced nasal blockage or obstruction
  • Less trouble sleeping

Risks included temporary symptoms such as mild bruising and inflammation, awareness of the implant, and mild pain or irritation. Other risks related to the LATERA implant included discomfort, infection, reaction to material, and device retrieval.
